Ask KnightHawk
I have done Tarot readings as an advice “column” (i.e., series of posts) on this blog, sort of like “Dear Abby using Tarot readings.” Note that I used something similar in my books Tarot Tells the Tale and Tarot: Get the Whole Story. In those books, the readings were for historical, fictional, and mythical characters.
I am not currently accepting requests, but here is the info for when/if I do again:
I will ask you to contact me via email (rather than using the comment section on this blog) and put “Ask KnightHawk Tarot reading” in the subject line so I’ll know not to delete it as spam.
I will carefully review every request I receive, but I hope you understand that I cannot promise to do a reading for every one. Also, I reserve the right to edit your question for space and readability considerations. (Note that if you want a more detailed reading from me, I do offer private readings. For more information about that, see my reading services page.)
If you question is selected, I will do a Tarot reading for it and post your question and my reading here on this blog. I will keep your question anonymous, changing names where necessary to do so.
For suggestions about how to form your question in a useful manner, please read my article “Rephrasing the Question.”
The spread that I’ll generally use for these readings will be one that I have created specially for this purpose.
The Spread:
Card 1 – Pull one Major Arcana card for spiritual advice
Card 2 – Pull one Court Card to suggest a trait or attribute to develop
Card 3 – Pull one pip (numbered) card for a suggested action to take.
This spread is designed to provide spiritual as well as worldly advice. Also, I will provide an affirmation or two from my book Tarot Affirmations whenever it seems it will be helpful. The deck that I will use is my own Tarot of the Masters.
.
Addendum: Recently Davina, one of my blog readers, sent me a picture of a card holder that she made for doing readings with this spread. Here it is:

I’ve enjoyed Tarot tells the tale, can’t wait to read your coming advice column.
Best Regards from Mexico City
Thanks Flavio. If you enjoyed TTTT, you’ll love Tarot: Get the Whole Story.
Best,
James
What a great idea. This sounds like fun! I can’t wait to read more.
Thanks! I’m happily surprised to see that I already have several requests, so there should be readings here pretty soon.
James –
What a delightful idea for a column! Looking forward to seeing this progress!
Blessings,
Bonnie
Thanks Bonnie! I’m hoping it will be interesting and helpful from several points of view, including discussions about doing readings and the meanings of the cards.
Best,
James
Great idea James. Can’t wait to read the column. I’ll be sending my question soon.
James, I can’t wait to read your new column! I love “Tarot Tells the Tale”, whenever people ask me to recommend a book for this is the one I always recommend (along with Robert Place’s “The Tarot: History, Symbolism, and Divination”). It’ll be awesome to read new KnightHawk’s readings
)
I might send you question soon, too! That’s so exciting!
I wish you much success, James!
Cher and Marina — Thanks! I hope you enjoy the readings. The first one will be here soon. And I look forward to your questions.
Best,
James

Dear Knighthawk,
I am a friend of Susan McEowen’s and she emailed about your site. I would love to have a reading… I am in a transition period of my life wanted to begin something new. My daughter has moved away and I am wondering what direction I should explore next? I really want to do something creative and invite new friends into my life. What do the cards say about my future?
Thank you.
Thanks for your request, Deborah
I’ll let you know when I post a reading for you.
Best,
James
