I often use poems when I do my daily draws. Years ago I read Roger Housden's book! It was the book that prompted me to start my Poetry Corner bookshelf. I realized that I'd let poetry go from my life, so I brought it back. Part of life is finding the things that you mistakenly let go.

One anthology I've always liked is called "Staying Alive: Real Poems for Unreal Time" edited by Neil Astley. Oh and Jane Hirshfield's essays "Nine Gates: Entering the Mind of Poetry" is life-changing as is Susan Wooldridge's book "PoemCrazy: Freeing Your Life with Words"

Sometimes an idea is important enough that it comes to various readers and through various cards. I guess life-long learning is one of those messages. I very much enjoy Mr. Ricklef's "PIthy Tarot Meanings" and usually read them when I am done writing for the day, for my own inspiration and learning. See? Learning is a good thing.

[…] Consider the aspects of your life where you feel limited or constricted. This might be in your finances, your love life, or your living conditions. Then choose one area that most distresses you. This constraint can become a path to discovering your essential divinity when you release your resistance to it and accept it for what it is. As you relax into that acceptance, your divine essence will begin to shine through into your life and (ironically) you will feel a surprising sense of freedom emerge. It is not surprising that this message manifests with the final card of the Major Arcana since it builds upon the lessons of prior cards, specifically, non-judgment of what is (which we learned from the Judgment card) and the power of surrender (which we learned from the Hanged Man).
Ah, but seeing that loneliness is an illusion (as opposed to merely experiencing loneliness) seems a particularly Hermit-ish discovery. That's why I thought making it Hermit Rx was a bit of a conundrum. It's sort of like how a double negative becomes a positive -- merely being lonely would definitely be Hermit Rx, but realizing that it's an illusion takes it back to the Hermit in a positive orientation.
Hmm... Food for thought! :)

I don't normally see the Hermit as lonely - a period of isolation to be able to study, or looking inward and then turning outward with what we have learned, even teaching at a spiritual, individual level (as opposed to the Hierophant's institutional education). So yes, I'd prefer this pithy meaning for the Hermit reversed :)
