The Lovers — Spiritual Message of the Day

February 14, 2011

Tarot of the Masters -- Lovers cardI generally deal a card at random for these daily cards, but since today is Valentine’s Day, I deliberately chose the Lovers card.

Valentine’s Day has a somewhat split personality (which makes the Lovers card additionally appropriate since it is associated with Gemini.) For those who are in a happy relationship, this is a romantic day filled with celebrations and reaffirmations of love. On the other hand, for those who are not in a relationship, it can be a bitter day filled with reminders of love’s disappointments.

For people in the latter situation, this card suggests a couple of affirmations

I am ready for love.
I deserve to be loved.

These affirmations may seem to state the obvious, but deep down, many of us are not as ready for love as we would like to think. These affirmations can help you get there. (See my book Tarot Affirmations for more about creating and using affirmations with Tarot cards.)

For people who are in a relationship today, this card has a message about improving that relationship. It says that for our relationships to succeed, we must choose love over and over again, which is not always easy to do. Often we are faced with circumstances wherein we may choose things like judgment, fear, or rejection instead of love, compassion, and understanding. For example, when our partner makes a mistake or does something hurtful, we can choose love or we can choose anger and condemnation. Similarly, when we are confronted with temptation, we can choose either love or betrayal. So today, if you are faced with such a choice, be sure to choose love.

  1. The best affirmations are always the simplest. “I deserved to be loved” is a belief that sometimes takes a lifetime to achieve. I love your affirmations. They are great reminders on how we should all treat ourselves.

    • Thank you Carolyn
I really hope everyone achieves the belief that they deserve to be loved faster than in a lifetime, but I know what you mean. Sadly.
