Queen of Coins / Pentacles — Spiritual Message of the Day

March 31, 2011

Queen of Coins (Pentacles) -- Tarot of the MastersThe painting that inspired my Tarot of the Masters version of the Queen of Coins is Mother Jeanne Nursing Her Baby by Mary Cassatt, an artist who created many paintings of mothers with their children. This image is a vivid depiction of this card’s meaning of a generous and nurturing love, and it suggests a quiet inner strength that is supportive of the well-being of others.

While we often exhibit a giving nature toward people close to us, such as our family members, we are typically much less charitable with people with whom we do not share an intimate bond. Why, we may ask, should we give to someone with whom we have no immediate connection?  Of course, this apparent lack of connection is an illusion; we are all connected to each other. But more than that, we should realize that our generosity does not deplete us. Through the seeming paradox of abundance born of charity, our generosity makes way for the abundance of the Universe to flow into our lives, offering us new opportunities.

The following is an affirmation based on this card from my book Tarot Affirmations.  It can lead you to find your place in the cycle of abundance that supports us all:

The bounty of the Universe flows through me as I give of myself to others.

If you enjoy these words of spiritual advice from the cards, you will love my book, The Soul’s Journey: Finding Spiritual Messages in the Tarot.

    Good Afternoon,
I was just curious to see what your COD was today. I haven’t heard for you. I was wondering what conclusion you had come up with. Perhaps it was just a freak occurence. I guess we will have to see what this month brings us.

  2. Very nice. Thank you for the affirmation.

  3. I’ve been trying to find something online that refers to the queen of pentacles and our lady of Guadalupe. Love this description. If you look at them they are very alike. Same clothes, green veil and red robes and crown, plus roses. I see the coin as where your treasure is, there your heart will be. Mary treasured things in her heart. Mother earth, very motherly!
