Two of Cups — Spiritual Message of the Day
The Two of Cups says that we can heal a relationship (whether it be casual, platonic, or romantic) through the power of love. The following exercise to effect this healing involves bringing the other person into your consciousness and into your heart.
First, send healing energy to the other person. Everyone has unresolved issues, unacknowledged fears, and unhealed wounds that cause them to act badly. Heal those wounds and the behavior improves. You aren’t responsible for healing another person, of course, but you can send them healing thoughts, which may be in the form of a prayer, a visualization, or a simple statement. Use whatever method works for you. If you know what the other person’s wounds are, be specific as you send those healing thoughts. Otherwise, you may say something like this: “I don’t know what your wounds are, but I am sending you healing energy so that they may heal and you may find peace and joy in your life.” Similarly, you may also want to send healing thoughts to yourself.
Next, send this person your love. Silently repeat “I love you,” or words to that effect, even though it may be hard to do that at first. You may resist doing this because you think that the other person doesn’t deserve your love, but that’s an irrelevant consideration and even a meaningless one. The important point is that you deserve to be a loving person. Actually, your true, divine Self is already totally and unconditionally loving, but your ego’s illusion of separation from the Divine blinds you to that. It also blinds you to the realization that everyone deserves love, because we are all One. Withholding love from someone else withholds it from ourselves. So no matter how hard it may be to do this at first, keep at it. The more you do it, the easier it becomes.
The immediate result of this exercise will be a shift in your consciousness. With this shift, you will change, and as a result, so will your relationship with the other person. But regardless of how much or how little the other person or the way s/he acts toward you changes, your suffering within this relationship will dissolve as you transform your thoughts about it.
