Discussion: What card? (Complexity of life)

January 29, 2012

The following observation recently came to me as a flash of inspiration. It’s not that the comment itself was so surprising to me, but the inspiration was that I needed to share this. So here it is:

Life is infinitely complex; everything going on around us is very complex. This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to understand it all; it just means we shouldn’t presume that we do.

I’m curious now to see what Tarot card you all think this observation calls to mind.

To find more posts of this type (what Tarot card does this remind you of?), see this list: https://jamesricklef.wordpress.com/category/card-meanings/what-card/

  1. The high priestess! Because everything can be so very complex, often it is best to just go with your gut feeling.

  2. I see the Five of Swords. I see the 5s as being about chaos (and thus, complexity), and the 5/Swords in particular as being about someone insisting that s/he is right. The 5s are also about learning lessons in life (being associated with the V. Hierophant, the teacher) which ties in with “This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to understand it all.”
(Again, there are no right or wrong answers here; just thoughtful ones.)
