Five of Wands — Spiritual Message of the Day

Five of Wands -- Tarot of the Masters

“A power struggle collapses when you withdraw your energy from it. Power struggles become uninteresting to you when you change your intention from winning to learning about yourself.” — Gary Zukav (The Heart of the Soul: Emotional Awareness)

Have you ever been in an argument or a contentious situation where it seemed like the chaos of the dispute took on a life of its own, growing like a monster? Everyone involved wanted to win (although in the end, no one actually won), and the energy of antagonism and separateness that they radiated is what created the argument monster.

Quarrels and fights are, at their essence, chaotic energy, and chaos feeds on chaos. In other words, when we get into a chaotic situation, our minds become more hectic and confused, and that always exacerbates the situation. Then, barring any steadying force, the situation can easily spin out of control. But that part about a steadying force is the key to solving the problem. You can become a stabilizing force. As Gary Zukav says, if you change your intention from winning to learning, that will shift the energy of the situation. That doesn’t guarantee that peace will be restored within the conflict, but it will bring peace to you, which will help immensely.
