Pithy Tarot meanings — Seven of Wands

January 9, 2015

Seven of Wands -- Tarot of the MastersSeven of Wands:
“A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials.” – Chinese proverb

There are several other cards that we might also associate with this saying when we focus on its implications of troubles and adversity. (The Five of Pentacles comes to mind, for instance.) But the word “trials” is key here, and it is what brought me to see in this the Seven of Wands since those attacking wands that we typically see there can indicate trials in the form of all the challenges we encounter in life. This connection is also bolstered by the fact that the number Seven may be associated with “trials” in numerology. And this number is also associated with spirituality, and this saying is a very spiritual way of looking at life.
