The Hanged Man suggests a way to live a happier life
There are many ways to use Tarot cards beyond the well-known process of doing a traditional reading. Here’s a way to create a happier life today using a bit of advice from the Hanged Man.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” — Carl Rogers
One meaning for the Hanged Man is the power of surrender, and the quote above is an example of that. Another example can be seen in the following Eckhart Tolle quote, which supports and, perhaps, explains Carl Rogers’ message:
“When you yield internally, when you surrender, a new dimension of consciousness opens up.”
Based on this aspect of the Hanged Man card, here is today’s suggestion for creating a happier life:
Think of some aspect of yourself or of your life that you are unhappy about or that you have resisted lately. Then say to yourself something like this:
“I accept that this is who I am right now.”
You might also want to say to yourself:
“I surrender control of this situation to my Higher Self.” (Instead of “my Higher Self” you can use whatever works best for you—the Divine, God, the Universe, etc.)
A lot of people will resist this approach, based on a misunderstanding of it, so let me make something clear: This does not mean you have accepted that this is what you should be like or what you always will be. It just means that you are acknowledging that this is who you are right here and now. It may help to remember that, as Carl Rogers says, once you do this, you will be able to change, but it is also important to release your need to control what that change will be.
PS: For this to be effective, you should do it with full sincerity (hard as that may be) and spend a few minutes with these thoughts.
