The Tower card suggests a way to live a happier life
There are many ways to use Tarot cards beyond the well-known process of doing a traditional reading. Here’s a way to create a happier life today using a bit of advice from the Tower card.
The Tower card talks about the insidious prison of our comfort zone. That’s why it, with its image of an explosive expulsion of its occupants, seems so scary to a lot of people: we are happy prisoners within our comfort zone and the world outside that zone seems frightening. Consequently, several meanings for this card from my Pithy Tarot book deal with leaving your comfort zone. Here is one example:
Your ego wants you to stay in your comfort zone, but your soul wants you to explore the rest of the world.
In my book The Soul’s Journey I talk a bit more about the imprisoning tower of our comfort zone:
We shelter ourselves in sterilized circumstances—for example, a secure but unfulfilling job or a safe but loveless relationship—that we hope will protect us, but which instead trap us. We don’t see it that way, of course, because we have settled into the comfort of the familiar. Our self-made cages may not be gilded, but they are, at least, sufficiently padded.
So the Tower’s advice for today is this:
Take a small step outside of your comfort zone and do something different. Perhaps you can take the subway to work instead of driving, or you might try a recipe that you thought was too daunting.
Although it is difficult and scary to make a giant leap out of your comfort zone, you should be able to easily make small forays out of it. Doing this will show you that it’s kind of nice out there in that bright new environment. Perhaps you should do it more often!
Many of these suggestions from the cards about how to live a happier, more fulfilled life were inspired by my pithy Tarot meanings and others by material in my book, The Soul’s Journey.
