The Five of Cups suggests a way to live a happier life

June 10, 2017

Five of Cups -- Tarot of the MastersThere are many ways to use Tarot cards beyond the well-known process of doing a traditional reading. Here’s a way to create a happier life today using a bit of advice from the Five of Cups.

Let me begin this Tarot happiness suggestion with a poem by the Spanish mystic, Saint John of the Cross.

I was sad one day and went for a walk;
I sat in a field.
A rabbit noticed my condition and
came near.
It often does not take more than that to help at times —
just to be close to creatures who
are so full of knowing,
so full of love
that they don’t chat,
they just gaze with
their marvelous understanding.

Of course, we need not depend upon the fortuitous arrival of a wise rabbit in order to find such solace. Love often shines through the eyes—the proverbial windows of the soul—of someone near us, whether that is a friend, a loved one, or a pet.  Here, then, is a suggestion for a way to bring some light and love into your life:

If you are experiencing some sort of sadness, try to spend some time with a friend, loved one, or a pet. You can tell them you’re feeling down and just need to spend some quality time with someone.  Of course, if you choose to do this with a pet, no explanation is needed.

If, on the other hand, you have a friend who is dealing with their own grief, don’t be afraid to spend some time with them. You don’t have to fix things; just be with them with love and compassion. And know that shining light into their life will bring light into your own as well.
