What does the Eight of Pentacles mean?

July 8, 2017

Tarot of the Masters -- Eight of Coins / PentaclesHere is a pithy meaning for the Eight of Pentacles:
Mostly, we do what is habitual and what is within the comfort of the familiar.

I recently found an article titled, “Gratefulness: An Opportunity to Practice.” Its theme is gratefulness (which closely relates it to the Six of Pentacles), but it has a quote (from which I extracted the above pithy meaning) that reminded me of the Eight of Pentacles. The full quote is this:

Truthfully, it can be said that we are always practicing something. Most often, we are practicing what is habitual, familiar, and mostly unconscious.

This article also said the following, which is another great pithy meaning for the Eight of Pentacles:

A “practice” is anything we do that builds mastery through repetition.
