What does the Judgment card mean?

January 21, 2019

RWS 2.0 JudgmentAs Ive noted in other posts here, one of the deepest meanings for the Judgment card is “forgiveness.” So, while reading a book called Forgive and Forget: Healing the Hurts We Don’t Deserve by Lewis B. Smedes, I came across many great quotes that would apply to this card, including the following:

  • Forgiving is love’s revolution against life’s unfairness.
  • When you [forgive someone], you cut a malignant tumor from your inner life. You set a prisoner free, but you discover that the real prisoner was yourself.
  • Forgive yourself.

Here is an expansion on that last very pithy meaning based on material in that book:
When you judge yourself you create a division within yourself. When you forgive yourself, there is a healing of that split.

Note: Each of these pithy Tarot meanings is just one facet of its card. Find more of them on my Card Meanings page.  Also, get my Pithy Tarot Book and LIKE my Pithy Tarot Facebook page!
