What does the Ten of Swords mean?

May 20, 2019

RWS 2.0 Ten of SwordsHere is a pithy meaning for the Ten of Swords:
Your thoughts are killing you.

This pithy meaning is meant metaphorically (more or less), so we can also make it a little more explicit, albeit a bit less pithy:
Your negative thoughts are killing your happiness.

Here is some background information about this pithy meaning:

I recently read (in a book called Happy for No Reason) that “every day, most people have more than 45,000 negative thoughts.” These are thoughts of complaining, blaming, shaming, judging, worrying, regretting, etc. This is a big factor in blocking our happiness, so this card suggests paying attention to your thoughts for a while and see which habitual ones you should try to weed out.
